Social, Economic and Security Issues of a Single Dalit Woman in India: From My Own Experiences

Abstract:

Being a woman from Dalit community, I have gone through a lot of rough phases in my life. It is nothing easy for a woman, especially being from a Dalit community and also from a backward area of Rajasthan. My schooling was in village with Hindi medium and it was a big challenge to continue my studies. Studying, passing grades promoted me to the next stage but still I had no knowledge of what was going on in my life. Finally a lot many happened as the family was poor, no access to many resources and information, but the final blow came when I was pursuing MA in English, M Phil and then B Ed but had nowhere to go. Cooking for my family and then the big turn came. Now as a mother of 4-year-old baby, as a professor at the University, as a hostel resident tutor in DU Hostel, and a lot more. This is not only the reality of mine but of a lot many more women. I would see the reality through society, family, economy, and social security. Let me share my experiences with you.
